The 4th Global Assembly of ACT Alliance brought together 300 delegates from all continents. The Assembly was opened by the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, and led by the General Secretary of ACT Alliance, Mr. Rudelmar Bueno de Faria, under the theme: “Hope in Action: Together for Justice.”

Among the key agenda items discussed were Climate Change and humanitarian aid services (from the African perspective, addressing the unequal distribution of humanitarian aid during disasters compared to other continents, noting our limited contribution to these changes in comparison to Western nations), illegal migration and the displacement of people, especially due to war (Africa raised concerns about prioritizing the wars in Ukraine and Gaza while neglecting the situations in Congo and South Sudan), gender equality, membership issues, active youth participation in the Alliance, and more.

The Assembly was preceded by a Youth Meeting from ACT Alliance members worldwide, and their recommendations were incorporated into the outcomes of the General Assembly. The next Assembly is scheduled to take place electronically in 2027, followed by a physical Assembly in 2030. The ACT Alliance Tanzania Forum (ATF) participated in this Assembly, represented by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (KKKT), Tanzania Church Relief Services (TCRS), and the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT). One of the agreements between LWF and ATF is our involvement in the preparations for the new development goals in 2027, as the current Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will reach their conclusion in 2030.
